It now became her vision and her goal to train students to rise to a level of excellence and be champions. Naming her school Stacey’s Hands of Champions, Fay was determined that all students would be champions. Her goal was to use her experience to mentor and empower her hair designers with the best knowledge and experience in technical skills and creative design.

As a designer and teacher, Fay was called on many occasions to educate cosmetologists on a national level, winning numerous competitions and being recognised in many magazines. McCalls Magazine awarded her the title of One of the Five Top Hairdressers in America. She designed hair for a movie studio and styled dozens of top stars in the movie industry. She participated in community projects that earned her the honour of Fay Stacey Day (September 7th) in Northern Utah. For two years, she served with the Clairol Presidential Hair Council in New York, perfecting her hair colouring skills.

Fay realised that knowledge and constant education are the keys to being successful in this profession. She is extremely proud that Staceys Hands of Champions—Americas College of Champions—has created successful careers for thousands of designers over the past 21 years.

Stacey’s Hands of Champions Beauty College (asthetician school in Ogden) was founded in 1984 in Ogden, Utah. In August of 1995, it moved to its present location, where it is located right behind the Newgate Mall.

This newer and larger facility gives the students 11,000 square feet of space. It houses a large clinic floor, a nail clinic floor, a skin care room, a makeup room, and a large auditorium. It also includes six classrooms, two employee offices, a retail store, dispensary, and reception area, as well as a break room and locker room. The school is completely equipped with up-to-date.

History

Leon’s Beauty School was founded in 1963 by the late Leon Oldham. The school was originally opened on Tate Street in Greensboro under the name of Maison de Paris Beauty School. In 1974, it moved to expanded quarters on Walker Avenue, adjacent to The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Greensboro College. In 1977, it was renamed Leon’s Beauty School in honor of its founder.

In 1981 Leon’s moved to West Lee Street and in 2007 into its current location on Coliseum Boulevard. Mrs. Leon Oldham served as President and Director of the school until her death in August 1994. Leon’s Beauty School is presently operated by Mrs. Leon’s daughter, Parker Washburn. It is a private co-educational institution which provides course work in cosmetology designed to prepare the graduate for opportunities such as : hairstylist, beauty salon manager, skin care specialist, make-up artist or manicurist. In addition to the basic cosmetology course, the school also offers a course in esthetics and a training course for cosmetology and esthetic teachers.

One of the advantages of the Leon’s Beauty School’s longevity in the Triad area is a significant client base. Having a busy clinic allows them to keep tuition cost low while giving student ample opportunities to practice their technical skills and customer service.

Martin’s College of Cosmetology apart from some Beauty Schools is the fact that it offers diverse educational platforms in cosmetology, dermatological, educator training, Esthetics, massage therapy, and nail technology. Its cosmetology program is quite comprehensive in nature; providing students with 1,800 hours of in-depth and hands-on training in cutting edge hair styling techniques (cutting, styling, perms, coloring, etc.), nail care (including manicuring), skin care (including facials, makeup application) and practical clinical experience, which is acquired through its many onsite campus salons.
