About the Denver Institute of Technology

Originally named Westwood College of Technology, the Denver Institute of Technology has evolved over the past few decades into one of Colorado’s top technical and mechanic trade schools. As the leading Denver Tech College focused specifically on automotive service training, it provides students with intensive education in the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of diesel trucks, engines, and other vehicular systems. The institute offers an Associate in Specialised Technology degree along with certificate programmes in areas like diesel technology, auto mechanics, motorcycle service, and collision repair. With small classes of usually less than 25 students, the Denver Institute of Technology’s training philosophy emphasises hands-on learning in a practical garage workshop environment. Students gain familiarity working with industry-standard tools and equipment used daily by automotive technicians. This vocational emphasis provides graduates with the experience necessary to confidently obtain certification from organisations like ASE and begin careers right away at dealerships or repair shops across Denver and the Front Range.

The Denver Institute of Technology became Westwood College – Denver North in 1997. This school is the flagship campus of the Westwood College system, which includes schools in five states and an additional campus on the south side of Denver.

Westwood’s Denver North campus is located a little over nine miles from downtown Denver. Although there is no on-campus housing at this school, students who want to live near campus can talk to a campus-based Collegiate Housing Services representative to arrange the lease of a furnished apartment.
