In our One Year program each student writes, shoots, direct and edits 8 of his/her own films and crews on 29 others. Students receive over ,1000 hours of hands-on instruction and actual production experience.
Students enrolled in the Two-Year Conservatory Program will complete the One-Year Filmmaking Program during which each student completes a series of short films and, following a short break, will continue for a second year where they will concentrate on Feature Filmmaking.
The One-Year program runs on an eight-month calendar, divided into two?16-week semesters. Each of the 16-week semesters requires intensive time demands and a complete commitment on the part of the student. A standard week of study involves approximately 30 hours of classes, six hours a day, Monday through Friday, with additional time required in the evenings and on weekends for classes, rehearsals, and shoots.
The Film Academy's Two-Year Conservatory Acting for Film Program is a unique opportunity for students to explore and master the differences and similarities between stage performance and acting in front of a camera. Students will deepen their knowledge of the craft and gain invaluable experience through advanced scene work and production experience. The first year follows the curriculum of the One-year Acting for Film Program, and the second year will be comprised of the additional classes.
Students are treated as producers throughout the duration of the course, and are challenged at each step of the way. Students are encouraged, but not required; to bring a piece of intellectual property - a book, screenplay, show concept or treatment - at the beginning of the course. Throughout the year students will take this project through the various stages of development - pitch, treatment, script, talent search, budget, schedule, and plans for marketing and distribution. Students will learn the real-word strategies for successful producing and have opportunities to make the actual contacts needed within the film and television industry. Students must be prepared for full-days of intensive work five to six days a week, throughout the entire year. They must be committed to a fast-paced, intensive learning and production schedule, and willing to work collaboratively with our Film School and Acting School students.
Two Year Producing Conservatory is a four or five semester, full time program. In the first year of the program students undergo a thorough regimen of class work and film production that lays the groundwork for a professional life in the film arts. Students learn both the creative aspects of producing, as well as the more technical, line producing side. In the second year, students participate in multiple film and television productions, deliver a thesis project of their own creation, and complete all requirements to graduate.
The Screenwriting Workshops and Programs of the New York Film Academy are the most comprehensive screenwriting courses of all top film schools. Students can develop an idea into a feature length screenplay in as little as eight weeks, or hone their skills in our One-Year Screenwriting Program, and walk away with a body of work to begin their professional screenwriting journey.
Two Year Screenwriting Conservatory is a four semester, full time program. The curriculum is designed to immerse gifted and energetic prospective screenwriters in all aspects of the discipline. Conservatory candidates will complete at least three feature film scripts , two tv scripts, as well as, numerous treatments; short film scripts, and perhaps most importantly, pitches. In addition to completing their individual projects students will collaborate with the Film Academy's students in producing, filmmaking and acting on group projects. The strength of the Screenwriting Program is the high concentration of intense writing workshops enhanced by extensive production experience.
It is a comprehensive training in 3D using Aliases Oscar Winning software, Maya, the industry standard for animation. The Academy's One-Year 3D Animation Program students will get the opportunity to learn the technical and artistic tools they need master 3D animation. After the program they may choose to become independent animators or to pursue a career in the film, gaming, interactivity, or commercial industries.
The Academy offers short term intensive programs in Filmmaking, acting, digital editing, digital filmmaking, animation, screenwriting.
The New York Film Academy offers camps for students ages 14-17 and tweens 10-13. High school programs include hands-on Filmmaking, Digital Filmmaking, Acting For Film, 3D Animation, Broadcast Journalism. Tween camps include one or two weeks in Digital Filmmaking or Acting for Film.
The New York Film Academy is working with a growing number of universities to allow students to earn bachelor's degrees in conjunction with courses taken at the New York Film Academy. Currently there are seven arrangements of this kind in place:

This two-year conservatory-based graduate program is designed to educate talented and committed prospective filmmakers in a hands-on, total immersion, professional and supportive environment. The intensive curriculum will challenge, inspire, and prepare candidates for professional work in the motion picture industry.

*Students have the option of completing the credits and course work for the first year at our campuses in New York City, Los Angeles at Universal Studios, or Abu Dhabi, UAE. All students will complete the second year at our location in Universal Studios.
In Year One, master students undergo a thorough regimen of class work and film acting that lays the groundwork for a professional life in the film arts. In Year Two, master students prepare for the thesis project while working with a curriculum designed to broaden their exposure to the many facets of the professional world of film acting.

In Year One, master students receive a comprehensive look at the art of screenwriting through courses in both film studies and screenplay/script analysis. Students will also be assigned several writing projects. These projects will be subject to critique by peers during in-class workshops.

Producing students follow an intensive curriculum and achieve multiple learning and production goals. By combining seminars and lectures with intense hands-on film shoots, master students acquire a sound understanding and appreciation of motion picture arts, and learn to integrate knowledge and professional experience.

Our Continuing Education courses offer students a chance to explore the art of the moving image or performance from a selection of different perspectives. Lessons will include both theoretical and hands-on approaches to the topic. Courses meet for 12 consecutive weeks from 7:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday evenings.

The New York Film Academy acting programs are unlike any other actor-training programs in the world --- cutting-edge explorations into the art into the art and practices of acting for the screen. Our students begin acting in front of the camera from the first week of the program. Every week, students get the opportunity to practice new techniques and skills they have gained in class to exercises that are then shot and reviewed.

Our acting for film and filmmaking programs work hand-in-hand, providing all of our students with resources such as film equipment, live film shoots, and a network of filmmakers, screenwriters, producers, and editors that is developed before entering the real world.
