Lia Schorr, a pioneer in the skincare industry, shares her 35 years of experience with each of her students. Ms. Schorr is the author of three acclaimed skincare books: Seasonal Skin Care (Simon & Schuster); Skincare Guide for Men (Prentice Hall); and Salon Ovations Advanced Skin Care Handbook. Along with working her way up within the skincare field from a salon employee to a long-time salon/ day spa owner, Ms. Schorr has been featured in magazines, newspapers, and websites across the country.

As owner of the Lia Schorr Day Spa (which just celebrated its 25th anniversary!)and the Lia Schorr Institute of Cosmetic Skin Care Training, Inc., Lia takes pride in every client and student that walks through the door. Esthetic, Skin Care & Salon Management

This is the “core curriculum” – the 600-hour course that prepares you to take the New York State written and practical exams for a license. At the Lia Schorr Institute, this esthetics course goes well beyond the basics. Their teachers have a wealth of experience, are passionate about the field they’re in, and look forward to sharing their knowledge with you.

As one of the top esthetic schools in the country, the Lia Schorr Institute takes pride in not only teaching students the basic science of skin but also the art of skin analysis. Their esthetic course teaches you not just how to give a facial but how to assess what type of facial is best for each person (and you’ll learn 7 different types). In additiona to skincare theory, waxing, the science of product ingredients, makeup choices and application techniques (an information-packed 84 hours of instruction), you’ll be introduced to the all-important art of client communication. Their curriculum is based on state-of-the-art scientific advances combined with the best traditional European and American techniques.

No wonder their graduates are in such high demand in the field-and their students come to us from all across the country and around the world (as do our experienced roster of teachers). The Lia Schorr Institute is licensed by the New York State Education Department and accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences. Getting your license can give you what you need to get a job in a spa or salon, to work in the cosmetic or fashion fields from department stores to selling cosmetics and skincare to the stores, to working as a trainer for major cosmetics companies around the world, or even to work with doctors in the field of dermatology, plastic surgery, chiropractic or nutrition. Financial Aid is available for the 600-hour program to students who are eligible and qualify. Our staff can assist you in determining which programs may be available to you. The Lia Schorr Institute can accept the following programs:

The Lia Schorr Institute of Cosmetic Skin Care Training, Inc. offers students an opportunity to train with Ms. Schorr in a rewarding and demanding program that combines lecture, written assignments and extensive clinical experience. The Institute is committed to preparing Estheticians who are skilled in their craft, committed to professional client care, and have a solid business foundation.

Courses are designed to meet the needs of beginners as well as those who are more advanced and seek to enhance their professional practices as accomplished estheticians or salon owners. Students are train on state-of-the art equipment. They learn the function and application of each machine during treatments.
