Each student spends many hours actually working on clients on the clinic floor and in full service day spa. The schools goal is to provide the practical training and experience necessary to give their graduates fulfilling and financially rewarding lifetime careers.

In the Cosmetology course, students will learn hairdressing, coloring, haircutting, permanent waving and thermal hair straightening. Esthetician students will learn skin care treatments, facials, anatomy, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and different body wraps. The Make-up Artist program includes: straight makeup, high fashion makeup, TV/Film makeup techniques and special effects makeup. Lu Ross Academy uses MAC Cosmetics in Makeup Artist courses, workshops and for the services provided to their clients. In the Manicuring course, students learn water & oil manicure, nail tips & wraps, acrylics, gel systems, pedicures and reflexology.

Founded in 1954, Lu Ross Academy takes a personal interest in the progress of each student. The beauty industry is looking for caring people with creative and practical skills. Their job is for you to build your foundation, pass the California State Board Exam and be successful in your chosen career. Cosmetologists, Estheticians, Make-up Artists and Manicurists trained at Lu Ross Academy will always be in demand.

Lu Ross Academy believes in the importance of hands-on training. And, they know you will make mistakes they expect you to make mistakes. That is how people learn from correcting their mistakes. When a student encounters any difficulty or is not sure what to do, talented instructors are there to step in and assist. Its at that point that the maximum education takes place.

Their State Board classes have set the standard in the industry. They want all their graduates to pass their exam the first time. If you dont pass the first time, you can attend additional Board classes at no extra charge. Theyll discuss with you how to solve whatever problem you had the first time. The curriculum goes far beyond the State Board requirements. Learn advanced techniques and use your creativity.

Cosmetology students receive additional make-up classes and skincare classes offered by instructors from other programs (Aesthetics and Make-up Artist).
