What It Takes To Become a Medical Esthetician
Medical Aestheticians consult patients and apply various cosmetic alterations to patients’ appearances before and after surgery. The requirements to become a Medical Aesthetician vary from state to state. Entering this career field requires an associate’s degree and some training in aesthetics.
Aestheticians are certified skin-care specialists. They treat facial skin to maintain and improve its appearance. Medical aestheticians act on patients whose skin or appearance is affected by trauma or medical procedure, such as surgery. Compulsory courses in a medical aesthetics program often include skin analysis and massage, skin treatment administration, hair removal, cosmetics, makeup application, and customer service. In order to be successful, it is important that you get the right training and education before looking for a job.
Education and training
Medical estheticians receive formal training in cosmetology and technical colleges. Prerequisites require that students be at least 18 years of age and hold a High School Diploma.
